Gingham is all grown up with larger, bolder checks and sophisticated colors making it the rage this spring. You will also see gingham appearing on the diagonal with designers looking at it from a different angle. Gingham will appear on everything from flared pants, to dresses and crop tops, to shorts.
The trick is to find the color and size that is most flattering for your skin tone and body shape and pairing your gingham outfit with sexy, strappy heels or gladiator flats with plenty of leg winding straps.
The 70’s had an interesting style which pulled away from the short, short, minis of the 60’s and introduced a heavier, more earthy look to fashion.
Choose wide legged pants for an elegant, yet casual look for evening parties to keep warm while still looking fashionable. Mid-calf length leather and suede jackets and vests are also ideal for evenings that might turn chilly.
Suede is popping up in unlikely colors such as lilac and sage with interesting “decoupage” cut out designs. Large buttons, rusty browns and oranges combined with modern earthy tones and interesting frills also contribute to the new 70’s chic.
Traditional shrug- and cardigan-covered shoulders will be exposed this spring, especially for spring parties. Pretty off-the-shoulder styles are found in cut outs, but one-sided shoulders figure prominently in dresses as well.
Halter style necklines are part of the 70’s look and will be combined with bohemian colors and patterns.
Stripes and Straps
Stripes are being strategically positioned to create interest on a single pant leg or sleeve, across the mid section or shoulders and down the back.
Straps are also making an appearance across shoulders and on footwear.
To avoid sinking into the grass at lawn parties in those strappy stilettos don’t forget your Starlettos. These elegant little heel protectors slide over any heel and provide balance so your heels don’t sink into garden-party lawns, or slip on dance floors!
